Vaccine is a product obtained by deactivating the disease causing Virus or bacteria ( Rabies virus in this case ) . So vaccine is basically an inactivated Virus or bacteria. By taking a vaccine the human body produces a protective substance called Immunoglobulin . This immunoglobulin protects the body from future infection from that particulr Virus / Bacteria.

While Rabies Immunoglobulin is a ready made preparation of Immunoglobulin ( protective substance produced by the body against Rabies Virus ) . This advantage of HRIG is it gives immediate protection by inactivating the Virus but a vaccine can give protection only after completing full course which may take weeks to months.

So bottom line

Vaccine is Inactivated Virus
HRIG is protective substance produced in human body ( not a Virus )
