Brief Answer:
Regarding imiquimod for genital warts

Detailed Answer:
Helllo. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist and venereologist). I have noted your concern.

Imiquimod 5% cream may take 2-4 weeks before it starts to show visible improvement. However, not all genital warts respond the same to imiquimod. Usually those genital warts that are on the inner surface of prepuce i.e are covered respond very well as compared to the exposed keratinised ones e.g on penile shaft. Total therapy duration may take 8-12 weeks. You may apply it once on every alternate days, usually at night. Side effects of imiquimod cream may include redness, irritation.

Brief Answer:
Regarding genital warts

Detailed Answer:
Thank you. I have viewed the Images.

Yes, these are genital warts.
Imiquimod 5% cream is a good option for your genital warts as they are in the sulcus between glans and prepuce and would normally be covered by prepuce in an uncircumcised male.
Condyline solution (podophollotoxin) is not available in XXXXXXX yet, however, podophyllin resin is available in XXXXXXX (Podowart). While podophollotoxin (condyline gel/ solution) can be applied by the patient itself at home, however, podophyllin resin (podowart) is a physician applied form of treatment. You should not use podowart on your own. Kindly talk to your dermatologist. He/she would apply podowart for you at his/her office. It has to be applied for 4 hours then washed off and has to be applied once weekly. Podowart can be used along with imiquimod.

Brief Answer:
Regarding genital warts treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Even I think that imiquimod should work for your warts. So you can give a fair trial of that for next 4 weeks. If it does'nt work you may opt for podowart. Podowart does'nt cause any scarring. Its not an acid. It is more effective than imiquimod.

Brief Answer:
Guidelines for podophyllin resin (Podowart)

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I use plain Podowart for genital warts rather than podowart S.
Podowart S is for plantar warts, not genital warts. It would cause more irritation. Kindly talk to your doctor.

1) application should be limited to <0.5 mL of podophyllin or an area of <10 cm2 of warts per session and
2) the area to which treatment is administered should not contain any open lesions or wounds.
3) The preparation should be thoroughly washed off 1–4 hours after application to reduce local irritation.
4) The application may be repeated after a week, if required.

Brief Answer:
Use a topical antibacterial cream for a week

Detailed Answer:
Thank you.

I suggest you to withhold imiquad cream for a week. It would irritate if you apply imiquad on this open wound.
For the time being, just apply a topical antibiotic cream for a week e.g either Fucidin cream or T Bact cream and let the wound heal.
