Brief Answer:
ketamine is an anaesthetic drug.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
In hernia repair, the first suture is taken from the periosteum of public tubercle. It may lead to pain.
Sometimes, the nerve which is passing might have been caught in sutures and causing pain.
There is no permanent treatment to both of these conditions.
You have to take anti inflammatory tablets when ever there is pain.
Ketamine is a anaesthtic drug.It has to be given under supervision of a doctor only as it may cause respiratory depression in some people. But, the action is temporary only.Once it's effect is gone, you may experience pain.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
