Is Krimson,Femilon And Diane Intake For A Prolonged Period Safe?
I wanted to know is it safe to take the tablets from or to such a long duration as, i am worried about the cancer news I hear these days.
QUITE SAFE. NO NEED TO WORRY MUCH.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
Combined hormonal pill (like KRIMSON -35) is the mainstay of treatment for PCOD and it can be taken SAFELY according to your doctor's suggestion. You must do periodic check up to your doctor for assessment of health status.
Side Effects: It includes headache, nausea, gastric upset, breast tenderness, change in libido, depressive mood, Cloasma etc.
Risk of overall cancer is QUITE LOW or NEGLIGIBLE while women use combined hormonal pill. It has protective role against major carcinoma.
Hormonal pill or patch with estrogen component only is related to development of carcinoma more aggressively if it is used for long term.
Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.
Wish your good health and take care yourself.

I would like to know what does long term use of pill mean? As my doctor prescribed me to take the tablet for few more years, till i conceive.
I was also worried as everywhere I read and hear the news, that oral contraceptive plays a role to increase the risk of breast cancer. So is it safe for me to continue the course?
Will I face any complications to conceive with PCOD, and when can I stop taking the pill?
Thanks
CAN TAKE SAFELY FOR NEXT 1-2 YEARS.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up query.
1) Long term means hormonal pills are taken more than 5-10 years. Risk of cancer is slightly high among women with positive family history. However, it varies from women to women.
2) Combined contraceptive pill (contains both estrogen and progesterone) is quite SAFE and it has PROTECTIVE role against major carcinoma like ovarian, colorectal, endometrial etc. Risk of breast carcinoma is also LESS if it is used therapeutically for short period like 2-3 years.
3) Yes, you can take combined pill like KRIMSON-35 safely for next 1-2 years before you are planning for pregnancy.
4) PCOD is related with irregular or delayed ovulation due to multiple cyst and it is problematic to conceive as you will get irregular period. You need treatment to regularize cycle and maximize chance of conception.
5) You should stop taking pill 3 months prior to planning of pregnancy after getting regular period. If you still then get irregular cycle, progesterone pill (from D16 to D25) may be required to get regular cycle.
6) You would take LOW carbohydrate diet with more green vegetables, control body weight by regular physical exercise (quite effective protocol), avoid stress and take prescribed medication only.
Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion.
Good luck and all the best.
