Lexapro is a good medicine, but only a doctor can decide when he needs it.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
You didn't do anything wrong by advising him to join a counselling group.
And also Lexapro is a very good medicine, it just needs about 3 weeks to start working fully.
After it has worked, maybe he needs to decrease gradually the Conopam, because it is not a medicine used for long term.
I think it has been a coincidence that he got worse. It just happens sometimes. He needs absolutely your support.
Also, I am not sure if the counselling group are certified to change/add drugs. Only a doctor can do that when a person needs it, after a doctor has examined them. So make sure that his doctor knows about this.
Hope this is helpful.
