Is Losartan Better Than Irbesartan?

I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would explain that both these drugs are part of the same pharmacological class : ARB.
They have similar adverse effects (as have the same pharmacological mechanism).
They both can cause worsening of renal function when kidney problems are present. They also increase the risk of hyperkalemia in these patients.
The only difference between them is the potency in reducing blood pressure values: Irbesartan is more effective than losartan in lowering blood pressure values.
But, considering the fact that you have renal problems, I would recommend avoid both these drugs, as they may worsen your situation.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
Hoe you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
