Is Melatonin Safe To Be Taken With Citalopram?
Brief Answer:
Interactions found
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Valerian and citalopram both increase sedation so not wise to use together. Also trifluoperazine and melatonin together interacts and cause excessive sedation. So i would not advise more than two medications at a time. Citalopram and trifluoperazine are alone enough and should work. If the others two are needed, dose should be kep to the minimum and be prescribed by the doctor and let them adjust the doses accordingly.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Thank you for your response to my question. I was under the impression that citalopram is an anti depressant. Can an anti depressant increase sedation? Or does it have the opposite effect?

Brief Answer:
Pharmacodynamic synergism
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me
yes its antidepressant and alone it does not cause much sedation. But when you take it in combination mentioned above, both drugs potentiate each others effect and increase sedation and drowsiness. A phenomenon called pharmacodynamic synergism. So should be avoided.
I hope it helps.
