Is Meloxicam Advisable Post Stent Placement?
Question: does meloxicam(mobic) pose danger to me. I have had open heart surgery and Stents in my laeg arteries. My cardio says I cannot use Mobic at all./ Is this completely true, or is she avoiding any dialog, considering the fear physicians have of people's law suits to make money.

it is accepted that NSAIDs (including meloxicam) do increase the risk for cardiovascular events and they're not recommended particularly before or after heart surgery. Patients with more risk factors for such events are presumably more prone to complications. I cannot base any opinion on individual cases because this is totally wrong. Doctors nowadays trust well-designed studies with thousands of patients, not individual cases.
No doctor can tell you whether you'll face a complication or not. This is a matter of luck (or a matter of yet undiscovered medical knowledge!). The bottomline is that by taking a NSAID you should accept the risk, which could be high or low (nobody can give you an individual prediction). Since you have advanced atherosclerosis as your previous treatments suggest, you're a patient at high risk for more cardiovascular events. Therefore I believe that your doctor was not exaggerating about meloxicam.
Alternative drugs without effects on thrombotic complications include paracetamol (acetaminophen) and opioids.
