Is Montair Safe For A 5 Moths Old Baby?

Question: my lil son is 5 months and he is havn severe atopic dermatises since last 2 months , a padiatrcian subscribed montair -4. will it be safe for him pls ... i hav my doubts and need a confirmation .
Brief Answer:
too young
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Mointair is montekeukast.
It is usually used in infants above 12 months of age.
More effective in allergic cold and asthma.
Few infants have been reported to have improved with atopic dermatitis.
Have you tried all other means like emollients, steroids avoiding citrus fruits etc? Use of zinc may help.
What milk the baby is on
Personally I Am not convinced to use montair so early !
The baby will get over from this by 18 months of age!
God bless

Thank You Doctor for your reply on the Montair -4 issue . Yes I am on a course of Emollients (using Cetaphil as prescribed) and steroids creams , there is some sort of control but not full control . During the day I engage with with toys and other distractions but at night I am left with no opton to breastfeed him almost every two hours as his itches come up now and then and he starts getting restless. I am still breast feeding him but sooner I will try weaning him as I am a working executive . so Doctor what milk would be better , pls kindly suggest ... Would Nan be ok to start with and what other precautions or suggestions would you like to advise from your side, I would be very glad to consider them for the lil one's well being.... Looking forward to your reply ...
Brief Answer:
can use hypoallergenic formula
Detailed Answer:
Hi
the longer you breastfeed is better in view of the atopic dermatitis.
If you need may be you can try some hypoallergenic formula like Nan HA.
Do not start citrus juice like orange and lemon.
Cause of allergy varies from child to child but generally you have to be careful with eggs and citrus fruits.
Avoid perfumed soaps, creams etc and also powder .
Good luck
