Is Mupirocin Ointment Safe For A 8 Month Old Infant?

Question: 8 month old baby with coxsackie and impetigo on hands and mouth prescribed mupirocin ointment usp 2%. Is it safe to put on hands, lips and around mouth? As an 8 month old he is constantly putting his hands in his mouth.
