Is Nan Pro 1 Formula Safe For A 45 Days Old Baby?
Question: Hi,
Im feeding my 45 days old girl baby with Nan Pro 1 formula feed, would like to know if it is safe to use? Since BM was not sufficient for her ,i started feeding formula milk...but now after taking lactare tablets , BM supply has increased but baby is preferring Formula milk as it is easy to have in feeding bottle...I'm worried if her immunity will be affected as she is not having BM.
Brief Answer:
relax.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
This is very good that milk production has increased.
I recommend you to give exclusive breast feeding.
It will take some time for baby to be on breast milk.
Taking milk from bottle does not need much effort so babies are bit reluctant in switching from bottle to breast feed.
But do not worry keep giving your feed .
No bottle ,not a single time.
I also suggest you to have balanced diet so that milk production remains good.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if you have any further question.
Wishing your baby good health
God bless...

Thanks Doctor, Eventhough milk production has increased,When I feed her for 40 mins, immediately after 15 mins she starts crying for milk...also she starts sleeping when i feed and she is not having properly...I tried expressing the milk using pump and feeding her, when i express for 40 mins i get only 60 ml...but she is having 120 ml of formula milk each time ...BM is not as thick as formula milk im not sure due to this she cries immediately after having BM. During nights Im worried when she cries due to hunger. Also can u suggest any medicine or food for increasing the lactation...now I'm having Lactare tablets thrice a day and Lactare granules once a day...but i feel like when i stop taking the tablets once...milk production is reduced

relax.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up.
First and foremost thing to increase milk production is -- to be relaxed,do not think milk production is low because anxiety interferes with milk production.
Take plenty of fluids ,fruit juices, milk.
Take balanced diet.
Take soaked almonds.
Feed your baby in relaxed mood.
Regarding feeding it is common for babies to fall asleep while feeding with the result they take less feed.
Tickle your baby's feet or ears if he sleeps and make sure he actively sucks for 20minutes.
If he sucks well no need to pump milk.
Feed from one breast at a time.
Watch urine output and in case he is passing it 7th 8 times then nothing to worry.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Thanks for the quick response. Could you please tell me if she cries for milk immdietly after one feed, can i feed her again? how frequently i can feed her if milk she drank is not sufficient? what is the time taken approxmtly for milk secretion btween one feed and the next. I was told that garlic fried in gingelly oil will increase milk supply, is that true? I'm a vegeterian, woulk like to know more about balanced diet for increasing lacation.

Hi
Detailed Answer:
Thanks again.
Crying in baby could be due to many reasons like hunger/wetness/boredom.
Feeding should usually be given for 15 to 20 minutes every 2 hourly.
It takes 3 to 4hours for milk secretion in one breast and that is why alternate breasts should be used..
Regarding diet take cereals,pulses,vegetables.
Fruit, fruit juices, vegetable soup, milk..avoid gas forming food items in your diet.
During lactation additional 500 calories are required.
I am not sure about garlic fried but you can try it in small amount.
Hope this helps.
Happy parenting!!
