Question: My Doctor prescribed for Me Pennsaid Topical Solution and am reading the Full Flyer that came with it and it sounds Just as dangerous as if You are taking an NSAID Orally. I had a Gastric Bleed in 2001 after 5 years on Naprosyn and don't wish to repeat that experience as it a concern?

Hello,

taking a NSAID by mouth is much more dangerous than applying it locally. Actually in most cases no symptoms of gastric irritation are expected with local application. If you'd like to be sure, it won't harm you, you can take either ranitidine or any proton pump inhibitor with it. If tylenol works, then this is the safest alternative.
