I know the main ingredient, omeprazole, is the same, but I read that the rest of the formulation is different.
Brief Answer:
capsule contents...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The other ingredients that you read on the net are those that form the gelatin capsule. This capsule gets dissolved by stomach secretions releasing the active ingredient omeprazole. And as I said earlier, one will notice similar effects as that of prilosec OTC.
May I ask what stomach problems did you have with prilosec OTC?
Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor is one of the safe medications ever known. Side effects from this medication are extremely rare.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

stomach problems were nausea, loose stool.
Brief Answer:
Discuss with your doctor....
Detailed Answer:
Though nausea and loose stool is listed as a common side effect, I have not yet seen those side effects amongst my patient. I would ask your prescribing doctor and understand if there is another cause of nausea and loose stools like an infection.
If the cause is indeed omeprazole then perhaps I will recommend H2 blocker drugs as an alternative to omeprazole. Your treating doctor will know about it.
Hope this helps. Please close this discussion if all your questions are answered. I will be glad to discuss further if you have any more questions.
