Question: Is Radio Frequency Temp Sure treatment on eyelids for severe Meibomian glands dysfunction (eye dryness) dangerous for a young person that has nuclear antibodies positive and Anti Scl-70 - 5.1 in a blood test, potential for scleroderma?

we are not recommending this procedure for dry eyes in patients with connective tissue diseases, however it would be best to consult an ophthalmologist for the same.

We consulted different doctors on this question. it's specific and no one seems to have an answer. Rheumatologist thinks it shouldn't be dangerous as the procedure is just local, the ophthalmologist doesn't have an answer for that question; doctor-optometrist recommended to start the treatment in his clinic as the MGD is severe and a young patient almost can't read, study or watch tv because of severe dryness. There is no actual connective tissue disease yet, thank goodness. No other findings after extensive testing, multiple blood works, PFT, abdominal US and skin assessment. We would like to understand if positive ANA and Anti Sci-70 totally contradict RF treatment.

there should be no contraindication , because you have a positive ANA or scl 70 .
So I would agree that from a rheumatological stand point you may go ahead with it.
