Brief Answer:
Progesterone is useful only in deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

Susten is progesterone and is useful only when a luteal phase defect is evident or suspected. Without obvious hormone deficiency, supplementation in pregnancy is not advised.

Human chorionic gonadotropin is usually given in induced pregnancies when a hormone deficiency is suspected. This helps to maintain the pregnancy until the placenta completely takes over.

For my patients, I usually suggest hCG if needed. Susten may given best as suppositories. Your doctor is the better judge to decide on the need for the injection.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further suggestions. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
