Is Ventolin Syrup Advisable For Cold And Cough In A Child?
It can be given if required.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Ventorlin contains salbutamol which is a bronchodilator and helps in reducing wheezing, if present. Unless there is a component of bronchospasm involved (which causes wheezing), it is no use giving merely for cough and cold. If bronchospasm is present, ventorlin needs to be given and is safe to be given to an infant of 9 months. You can give it safely without worries. However, do not give simply if the child has cold.
In case of cough and cold, steam inhalation is very helpful. Just sit with the child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. The water vapour will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. It will dilute the mucus and would provide relief.
