Posted on Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Question: Earlier today I had asked a question about getting off of Prilosec ,and on to something else. Was on it for years, 1 per day , then 2 per day, and now it doesn't work, taste acid and throwing up, miserable, etc. This was prescribed by my DR at Kaiser, lost coverage, will go back NOV 15TH, THIS YEAR...Now, today someone here said Zantac 150, 2 a day. IS this a prescription or over the counter???

Brief Answer:
OTC

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query. Long term use of PPI like prilosec is not advised. Life style modification can improve the condition of heart burn or GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease).

Yes, you can take zantac (ranitidine). And it is available over the counter. No prescription required for it.

Hope I have answered you. You can close the discussion and rate the answer, if you don't have further query.

Wish you good health
