Question: Zovia is the only birth control pill that I do not break through bleed on. How is it different from pills like ortho tri cyclin

1) Above birth control pills are different from each other by generic composition. Therefore, break through bleeding may NOT occur on ZOVIA pill. Maintain genital hygiene properly.

2) ZOVIA contains Ethynodiol Diacetate and Ethinyl Estradiol. However, ORTHO TRI-CYCLIN contains Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol.

I was experiencing abnormal bleeding on no pill and after blood tests and transvag ultrasound and pap I was told I was fine w normal high dhea-s They gave me 10 days of progesterone pills to stop the bleeding and after that I begin zovia. Does this soundright?

1) If progesterone pill or therapy fails to stop / arrest bleeding completely, then we can suggest combined hormonal pill like ZOVIA etc. D & C may be advised in some cases.

2) If light bleeding is still occurring, I can suggest you to undergo one Trans Vaginal Ultrasound scan (TVS) and complete hormone profile to rule out the underlying pathology if any. Give me feedback after test reports for next management.

I have reviewed whole hormone profile. Most of them are completed and NORMAL except DHEAS.

You should undergo thyroid profile (T3, T4 and TSH) and Hemoglobin % if NOT done previously.
