Is A Cataract Surgery Done For A Colour Blindness Patient?
Question: Doctor has suggested for the cataract surgery. Just wanted to clarify my doubt as one of the doctor said it's a case of colour blindness.
Brief Answer:
Colour blindness is no contra indication for cataract surgery
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
Colour blindness if present doesn't effect the cataract surgery. Even after going through your report in detail, I couldn't find a mention of your vision.I am sure if the surgery is being planned, you must be having less vision in one of the eyes.
Colour blindness is incurable and is present genetically.
If you are seeing less, then go ahead with surgery. If you have colour blindness, then you will have it since early infancy.
Please get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
Regards

Thank you for the reply.. But my question is do I have colour blindness? Is my report indicating the same?? As per my report shall I go for cataract?? Please suggest..
Brief Answer:
Colour blindness is a subjective test.
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to HCM. Yes I've gone through all of your reports.
The tests for colour blindness are subjective tests, where you are asked certain questions and your reply about recognising colored patterns decide which colour you were not able to recognize, therefore were colour blind for those or all colours. No tests by any machine gives you result of colour blindness.
Most commonly used charts are Ishihara's charts.Download them and see if you are able to recognize patterns and numbers. Get them checked by someone else even if what you saw was correct. That will decide if you have colour blindness or not.
There are reports Of corneal curvature and blood sugar and no mention of level of cataract in your case. So I am not able to comment on requirement of cataract surgery in your case at all.
I would suggest you to have another opinion and have your eyes examined and send me the reports immediately so that we can offer some suggestions.
Regards
