Question: I seen a dr for what I thought was the flu. he said I might have the flu but also have ear infection and bronchial spasms. he said my lungs sound good so he gave me augment and prednisone.2 days later ear feels better spasms are almost gone but now I have a cough nothing comes up but pain in chest on right side just below Collarbone. is this pneumonia or just part of the flu or is it something to worry about?

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

From what you have described it sounds like he may have a bit of residual bronchitis related to your recent infection. The prednisone and antibiotics should help to decrease the duration of this illness.

For the cough you might try over-the-counter medication such as Robitussin. The active ingredient is dextromethorphan.

in addition I would recommend that you work on good fluid hydration. Try to make sure you eat a very well-balanced diet and get plenty of rest.

Again I think what you're dealing with is residual inflammation in your airways related to your recent infection. It should get better within a few days. If the symptoms do not get better or if things get worse I would touch base with your primary doctor again.

Sincerely,
