Is A Higher Resting Heart Rate Normal When Suffering From Flu?
Question: I have a flu with a low grade fever and went to the Dr this AM. My resting heart rate was 140 probably a combination of anxiety/not feeling well. My average heart rate is about 75. The doctor didn't seem concerned or do an ekg, now that I'm home my HR is around 105. Is this normal during an infection?
Brief Answer:
perfectly normal during infection/anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Please take note that the heart rate will change depending on body conditions. In case of infection, as your body is fighting infection, the heart rate will increase especially if you had fever.
Anxiety also increases heart rate.
That's why your doctor did not seem concerned. And I am not either.
Do not worry. everything will be back to normal as fever will subside.
Wish fast recovery!
