Brief Answer:
Negative for HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
HIV Duo test detects simultaneously HIV 1 P24 antigen and antibody to HIV 1 and 2.It is usually a good test after 3 weeks after exposure .If it is negative it is conclusive at this point of time. The sensitivity and specificity of the test is above 99%. it is a very good screening test.
Usually it is the HIV1 which is common and need not worry of HIV2.
It would be better if you go for HIV RNA PCR which is more conclusive to allay your fears totally from HIV.
Other wise it is considered negative and you are considered free of HIV.
So you can allay fears of HIV for now,Provided you do not have another exposure.
You can get back to me for any clarifications.
Thank you
Dr Bharatesh

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected. So the status is unknown.it may be negative also.
with your test results negative you can allay fears of HIV totally.
I do not see the need for retesting.
