Because i was in a high risk exposure and i feel very sick. I wast told by the lab that i have to wait until 12 weeks.
Brief Answer:
answered
Detailed Answer:
Have you started of PEP after the exposure or you have not yet if there was a high risk exposure. In that case one should wait for 12 weeks repeat test. There are other tests available like the HIV RNA PCR , NAAT test which can give test results much specifically and earlier as well. You may opt for the NAAT test and see if the result is negative then it can be more specifically concluded that you are negative.

Can the test be a false negative at 6 weeks? Should i retest at 12 weeks i still have symptoms
Brief Answer:
answered
Detailed Answer:
The test has been labelled highly specific for HIV RNA and there are little chances of it being false negative , but you can always get a 12 week retesting done just to assure yourself and put a rest to your anxiety.
What symptoms have you been experiencing?
