Is A Painless Knot In The Right Armpit A Concern?
I have just noticed that I have a knot under my right arm, in the arm pit. I have not noticed this before today.
The knot is about the size of a pea, in the middle of my arm pit. Should there be concern. I have felt Ok. And I'm very active.
Sebaceous cyst or a lymph node.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
If the pea sized knot is attached to the skin and moves with skin freely then this is most probably a small sebaceous cyst and not of much worry as it may resolve with time or get infected, larger and open up.
If the swelling is deep within, not attached to the skin then this may be a lymph node and then it is necessary to get a proper investigations like finding the primary focus, ultrasonography, FNAC as needed to know the cause and get treated accordingly.
Please check for yourself whether fixed to skin and movable or felt deep within; also check whether tender to pressure or not. Is there any injury in the right upper limb or breast area, any lump in breast area. And give me the feedback.
Take care.

Most welcome

Thanks for your feedback and appreciation.
Please get checked and investigated if advised by your Doctor, preferably a General Surgeon to make sure the diagnosis and management if required.
Sub-centimeter lymph nodes are usually reactive hence not much to worry about unless proved otherwise.
Take care.
