Is A Second Dose Of Novirin Advised When Suffering From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Thank you.
Selenium (part of novirin ) supplementation is not advisable.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Novirin contains the following ingredients: 100 mg of quercetin, 150 mg of green tea extract, 50 mg of a cinnamon extract, 25 mg of a licorice extract, and 100 mcg of selenium.
Selenium is required by the body in trace amounts only and its supplementation is certainly not recommended as it can lead to toxic levels very fast. Owing to this I would certainly not advise a twice a day dose.
Its a natural product.I practice evidence based medicine. You can only be
safely taking these drugs if you have a documented
proven deficiency of the above elements and substances.
Taking supplements for the sake of it can greatly alter
your metabolism and produce a range of side effects, as
these meds haven't been extensively studied w.r.t side
effects and interactions.
Please Elaborate , do you mean Chronic Fatigue Syndrome , when you refer to CFS. Kindly let me know to guide you further accordingly.
Let me know if you have any query
wishing you best of health

Yes, CFS is chronic fatigue syndrome.
Doxycycline for CFS if high IgM titers
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) can be due to a viral infection. In patient populations having elevated C pneumoniae levels, especially with higher immunoglobulin M (IgM) titers, antichlamydial therapy with doxycycline can be of benefit.
I read the “Pharmacology and Pharmacy, Special Edition: Advances in Antiviral Drugs" documents and would comment that these studies are deficient and inconclusive. The authenticity of such products circulating online is highly questionable. No authentic and reliable trial has shown them to be equal or superior to the antiviral meds used for the viral infections mentioned in your first question.
Please consult a doctor before using any medication.
Thanks.

CFS, a diagnosis of exclusion
Detailed Answer:
hello again,
I am sorry for your distress, madam. However , I would like to clarify that CFS is a condition whose causative relation with the conditions listed above has not been determined as of yet. There are correlations only e.g elevated IgM titers and Chlamydia. As of now the CDC has not identified any specific cause and has categorized it as a diagnosis of exclusion, i.e other conditions should be ruled out before labeling a patient CFS. Therefore, most treatments, if any are empirical and supportive at best.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention In order to diagnose CFS, a patient should (1) have severe chronic fatigue of at least a period of 6 months’ duration, with other medical conditions excluded and (2) have 4 or more of the following symptoms:
• impairment in short-term memory / concentration
•Tender lymph nodes / accompanying sore throat
•Muscle pain and aches
•Multiple joint pains without swelling or redness
•Headaches of new onset type migraines with greater severity
•Un refreshing and unfulfilling sleep
•Post exertion malaise lasting more than 24 hours at least.
There are many products/ drugs/ medications that can improve quality of life but the long term and ultimate outcome and short term adverse effects should also be assessed based upon accepted science.
Thanks.
