Is A Shooting Pain In Chest Because Of Anxiety?

Question: Hi there. About 3 days ago I started having shocking shooting pain in the right side of my chest. Now its spreading to the left side of my lower chest and toward the lower middle but more to the left. They're like sharp shooting pains for two seconds then two seconds later i'll have another one. Before it was in the upper chest now its below the breast bone. It goes on for about a minute at a time. Should I be worried? My blood pressure is a little high. Not too high but a bit. Could it be due to stress or anxiety ? Thanks. :)
Brief Answer:
Consult a psychiatrist

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query.
At age of 20, having pain in chest without any previous history of cardiac ailment is more towards psychological disorder. In your case chest pain is in chest only. It could be due to stress or muscular pain. First consult a physician and get all investigations done. In case, all come normal, then consult a psychiatrist. Mean time, you can try some anxiolytic like benzodiazepine. There is nothing harm in it.
If you need further help, you can ask.

Brief Answer:
First consult a physician then psychiatrist
Detailed Answer:
HI
Multiple somatic complaints in your case could be psychological, but before making diagnosis of somatoform disorder, physical disorder should be ruled out. In that case, better to consult a physician first. In case, all tests come normal or physician clear you from his side, then meet a psychiatrist for further management.
