Is A Sore Throat With Ear Pain Despite Taking Zyrtec An Issue?

This can occur with sore throat and I hope its nothing serious.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sore throat is not uncommon, and may be because of allergy, viral or bacterial. The good thing is that most of the cases (caused by allergy or virus) are not serious and settle with time, we just need to be careful to the one caused by bacteria for which we need some antibiotics.
the following symptoms should alert you toward a bacterial cause ( which is unlikely in your case)
1. fever
2. any obvious discharge in the throat or ear
3. no cough
4.feeling very sick
In such cases there may be need for antibiotics, otherwise antibiotics are not needed.
Regarding the pain, as the throat and ear has a nerve in common to supply (facial nerve) so the pain of throat can be felt in the ear, So its not strange to have it.
however if you feel any discharge, or decrease in hearing in the same ear, if the headache worsens or any rash, yo should talk to your doctor, but I am hopeful this wont be the case.
I would advise you just take some more fluids, paracetamol or ibuprofen for the pain if needed, if anything get worse, either your headache or any ear discharge, or high grade fever, please see your doctor then.
Hope I have answered your question. I would be glad to answer any further question if you have.
