Is Additional Dosage Of Glucophage For Type-2 Diabetes A Concern?
Question: I have Type 2 diabetes, recently diagnosed. I take 1 tab of 500mg Glucophage with food, morning and evening. This evening I inadvertently took an additional tablet by mistake, 4-5 hours after I had taken the evening dose. I Had swallowed it when I rechecked the number of tablets and realised the mistake. Just checking if I need to take any action. (As it happens I have had a few chocolates and this may off set a potential low sugar situation.) XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
About Metformin over dosage;
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking HCM!
I have gone carefully through your query!
There is nothing to get worried about!
The maximum daily dose of Glucophage is 3000 mg and taking for one day 2000 instead of 1500 (or taking even 1500 instead of 1000) does not cause any side effect.
Glucophage is the group of antidiabetic medications that rarely causes hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, so you do not have to fear it.
Please be calm and do not worry!
Wish you good health!
Kind regards,
