Is Alcohol Consumption Advisable Before Testing For Urine Infection?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
depend on test
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
It would be best to avoid alcohol use prior to the next unless you know exactly what is being tested.
Alcohol has a diurectic effect meaning that it increases urine output.
In addition, it may interfere with some tests eg analysis for kidney stones, testing for 5 HiAA (some centers recommend), catecholamines.
If you are certain that none of these is involved and the change in the volume/amount of urine would not have an effect on the result, then you can use alcohol.
But if this is not the case and one of these is being tested or you are not sure, then it would be best to wait till the test is completed
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
