Is Alcohol Consumption Before Hysterectomy Advisable?

Inform about this to your surgeon amaesthetist
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
I am sure I have misspelt your name; you may correct me.
Before any major surgery, particularly if it is to be carried out under general anaesthesia, we always advice the patient to be on empty-stomach to prevent regurgitation of the contents in the stomach, which may otherwise get aspirated in the respiratory system causing suffocation. Usually, the emptying time of the stomach is 4-6 hours. Hence, normally, nil by mouth for 6 hours is usually adequate before any major surgery; though to be on safer side, we usually advice nil by mouth from the previous night.
I do not feel, 5 glasses of wine and a couple of cigarettes previous night should affect your surgery. However, please inform this to your surgeon and the anaesthetist. If needed, they might put a tube in your stomach to aspirate the contents in the stomach to prevent the regurgitation in the respiratory tract.
Please be stress free; the surgery is going to be uneventful with competent surgeon and anaesthetist.
For any more information, I am always available for you, XXXX. You may please consider posting a good review with 5 star rating for me.

Inform the surgeon and the anaesthetist
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
If you have taken the drinks about 60 hours prior to the surgery, I do not feel it should cause any issue. By that time, it would have left not only your stomach but even your blood also.
However, since you were instructed not to consume alcohol for 10 days prior to the surgery, it is your duty to inform the surgeon and the anaesthetist about your drinking and smoking 60 hours prior to surgery.
By and large I do not feel there should be any issue in continuing with the surgery; however, I have not examined you physically neither have I viewed any of your reports. So Your surgeon would be the best judge to take the final decision. Please inform him ASAP.
