Is An ER Visit Required For A Child After A Head Injury With A Dart, When There Is No Significant Bleeding?

Question: Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor'. Please type your question my here...
My 8 year old daughter threw a dart and it hit my almost 12 yo son in the side of head. Could it have punctured the skull? It was in at an angle. I pulled it out. It barely bled. Applied antibiotic ointment. Iced it and gave him ibuprofen. Pain is local. Pupils are reactive. Not sure if he needs to go to the ER. My husband thinks he will be fine.

Brief Answer:
No need to go to the ER
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You can upload a picture of the head in reports in order that I can create a better idea of it.
I don't think he needs to go to ER.
I don't believe that a dart thrown by a kid can have that much power to puncture the skull.
Just apply disinfectant such betaine in the wound and apply ice .
I think he will be fine.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
