Is An Electrical Shock Like Sensation At Night A Sign Of Stroke?
Question: On two occasions this month I have been awakened by what felt like an electical shock. It lasted for only a couple of seconds so I could not tell from where it was coming. I thought I might be having a minor stroke,
but an ER visit revealed no evidence of that and an EKG was normal. What's going on?

Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
The symptom you mentioned as of now, is non-specific for any particular disease. Cervical spine arthritis(degenerative changes) as you mentioned may rarely cause a current like sensation that starts in neck and travels down the body. Further, atypical seizures is another rare possibility. However, since this lasted only for a couple of seconds, best thing at the time would be to observe if it occurs in future.
Just this much of symptom is not something very dreadly.
Hope that helps. If you seek any further clarification,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
