Is An Episode Showing Symptoms Of A Kidney Stone Leading To A Urinalysis Showing Blood In Urine A Concern?

Question: Hello there. I had an episode of what I think is a kidney stone, never had one or sure. Pain was pretty intense for a while , then went away, had one smaller episode later, but have felt great for a day now. I went to do urinalysis, they said it all looked very good other than "trace" amount of blood in urine. No urinating of blood, etc. Did xray, found no stone, but they said if very small would not have showed up anyhow. I am 50 years old, great health. I do get up to go to bathroom a lot more at night than used to but no pain urinating, etc. Just some thoughts.

Brief Answer:
Probably kidney stones, I suggest a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I read your query carefully and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to kidney stones.
The trace amount of blood in urine and frequent urination are related to this diagnosis.
The two common type of imaging tests that confirm this diagnosis is an ultrasound and CT scan.
In case that the stone is not seen on ultrasound for different reasons, a CT scan is recommended to confirm this diagnosis.

So, I'd suggest you do a CT scan to confirm the presence of the stones.
Meanwhile, I suggest you to:
-drink plenty of liquids.
-take a mild painkiller like Tylenol 650 mg in case of pain

Hope my answer was helpful.
