Is Anesthesia Safe For Babies?
Question: My 3 week old grandson has tongue tie. He is scheduled for surgery in the hospital with an ENT. The doctor has said the baby would be put under anesthesia for this. Is this necessary? I am fearful of the long term effects of anesthesia in babies; I read it may cause learning difficulties later. Should we be looking for an ENT who will perform this without anesthesia?
Brief Answer:
Anaesthesia essential.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, it is essential to put the child under anaesthesia. However, you need not getting anxious about any long-term adverse effects. You need not or should not look for anybody who will be willing to proceed without anaesthesia.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
