Thanks for getting back, its better late than ever.
Asbestos causes obstructive airway disease. It is also known to cause renal cell carcinoma ( kidney cancer) and prostate cancer. However it most commonly causes mesothelioma ( cancer of the lining of the lung).

My family has been thru hell over this asbestos business.Lost my wife to renal failure.lost my youngest daughter to kidney cancer. My oldest son is a survivor of kidney cancer. He had a 7 lb.tumor attached to his left kidney.I'm a survivor of prostate cancer. My youngest son is now being checked for kidney problems.I have been told by attorneys that these cancers have not been recognized by the medical community as being caused by asbestos.I need to know .Have they been recognized or not as yet?I appreciate your cander in this matter.I'm not going to get anyone involved.I just want to know. Thank you for your opinion.\

I am very sorry for the short delay in my response to you, I was trying to find articles which substantiate RCC in people exposed to asbestos.
It is very unfortunate what your family is going through.
I have found two such articles, you could also go through the references quoted in them
http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/content/29/6/1014.short
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ijc.0000/abstract;jsessionid=CE66FFCEDE90A069965CE5A6EE552B08.f01t03?deniedAccessCustomisedMessage=&userIsAuthenticated=false
I would like to add here that, it might be hard for you to prove asbestos is directly linked to RCC ( renal cell carcinoma) however since most RCCs are familial in nature. Hoever asbestos is a carcinogen which means that asbestos exposure might be responsible for triggering the RCC gene which might not have got triggered otherwise.
I hope I was of help
