Is Being Overweight A Concern While Undergoing Knee Replacement Surgery?
Question: I need a knee replacement.I am overweight so there is a reluctance by the surgeon to carry out the procedure. Is there a viable alternative.
Brief Answer:
If your knee is bad then it will have to be replaced.
Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion ,surgeon should have no reluctance to operate and replace your knee joints. Being overweight is not a major issue except that rehab is difficult and post op results are not as good.
As such the only alternatives could be local visco supplementation or Intra-articular PRP injections which may or may not help much.
Thanx for the question . Please feel free to ask any other question.
