Is Bleeding After Taking Postinor 2 Normal?

Question: I had taken postinor after 24 hours of unprotected sex. However he did not ejaculate inside me. After 5 days i realise i'm a little bleeding. Is this normal?

Hi,
This bleeding is the result of withdrawal effect of the pill. Protection is good if the pill is taken within the stipulated time interval, which you have. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting your query.

Since you have taken the emergency pill soon after the intercourse, you are amply protected. The pill contains high doses of hormone and thus creates hormonal imbalance in the body. This is the reason for the contraceptive effect.

Simultaneously, the pill also causes withdrawal bleeding 3-7 days after pill intake. This may range from slight bleeding to normal flow similar to a period. This is what you have been observing now.

You can also expect your next natural period to get delayed by a week or two. You need to get help if you become overdue by ten days for your next period.
