Is Bleeding With Clots And Lower Abdomen Pain Normal Post Intake Of Femilon?

Question: hi, I m 30 year old female,I am obese n have pcod, have irregular periods from months,so doc has suggested me to take femilon for few months to regulate my periods.now its been 10 days I have stopped tabs,since from two days its started but no actual flow just now n then getting clots with lower abdomen pain.is this normal or do I need to consult doc again? I m really worried hope u give a good suggestion. thank you :)

Yes, it is possible to have clots especially if it has been over a month since you last had your period.
Pain is also expected.
However, if this (clots) last for more than two days or if you have severe pain and unusually excess bleeding for more than 3days, please see your OBGYN right away.

I would :
- do a physical exam to check for heaviness of bleeding and uterus size.
-do a pelvic ultrasound if indicated.
-give you hemostatic drugs if bleeding is excessive.

I recommend :-
-weight reduction (even a 5 kg loss can help regulate your period)
-checking for thyroid hormone imbalances (can affect ovulation and weight)
-taking a folic acid supplement daily (if you are trying to conceive) along with a nutritious well balanced diet.

hi doc,thanks a lot for ur kind reply.actually I don't have excessive bleeding, only have clots now n then like five to six hours once but no normal flow Like before I had in my previous periods...its has reduced nowadays...its been two months I don't have normal periods its just spotting or get clots during periods that's it..

That's expected. This happens in PCOD as the uterine lining fails to develop.

As long as it is not excess, it's OK. Once your period regularises with medications and occurs every month, a free flowing period without clots should be seen. This may take a couple of months of menstruation (with medications).

thank you so much.hope there is nothing to worry as of now,one more last doubt,please don't mind as I told u I have clots at same time I have white discharge along with blood stain is it fine? I m so sorry to ask u many questions one by one,this is the first time I am facing such problem so I m lil worried

White discharge can occur as part of the normal physiological cycle.
Some women have more than others. If it is not associated with symptoms like itching, burning or if it doesn't look like curd or associated with a foul smell, it is normal.

Any of the above symptoms may indicate infection. White discharge is more prominent just before period and ovulation. So a blood stain is OK.
If there is enough blood (like a period) to necessitate a sanitary napkin and occurs in between periods (within 20 days of your last period), it should be checked out.
Otherwise, nothing to worry about.

so can I start my next pack femilon on 4th day though if I don't have normal flow,this time just had spotting n rarely had clots...not sure when to start again as my period was not normal..
