Is Blood Pressure Of 120/60 A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Apr 2017
Question: I gave my husband his 10pm blood pressure pills a half hour ago. It's 1:44am Saturday March 18. After I gave them to him he tells me "I know I took them one and 1/2 hours ago." He takes blood pressure pills Irbesartan 75mg and Amiodarone HCL 200mg. I asked him what compartment from his big pill box he got them from and he said "I took them out of Wednesday's spot." I said "why did you do that"? He said "I thought it was Wednesday." I just checked his blood pressure and it's 120/60. It's ok for now, but won't he go much lower during the night? What can I do to bring his pressure up? He's not allowed to take his own meds anymore because he no longer has the correct mental capacity.

Brief Answer:
Dose of Medicines are doubled but not life threatening doses.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

The medicines your husband has taken are used one for high blood pressure (Ibersartan) and the other one (Amiodarone) for arythmia of the heart rythm.
The does he has taken them, even if he has taken double dose, are not life threatening. So don't worry.
His blood pressure will not go lower then it is.
Monitor his heart rate and make sure it is regular.
Give the next doses of Medicines as usual.
Advice to drink plenty of water / fluids too, which will help his kidneys.

If any symptoms, expecially those related to shortness of breath, cough, confusion of his mental state, then I would advice to see a local physician.

Hope this is helpful and reassuring.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Regards,
Dr.Papaqako
