Is Calcium Level Of 10.8 A Cause For Concern?

Question: Blood tests show my calcium level at 10.8; at 70 yrs old should I be thinking about establishing at DEXA scan level basis? Would I need a prescription?
Brief Answer:
Test available without prescription at a number of centres
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
The calcium level is normal (in fact slightly high compared to normal). I would first need to ask the reason for asking for a DEXA scan. Unless there is a definite thing that you are looking to confirm from this test, I would not insist on self administering the test. Although ideally you should require a prescription, there are a large number of laboratories in XXXXXXX offering DEXA scans without prescription.
