Is Chemotherapy Required For Effectively Treating Endmetrial Carcinoma?
Question: My mother is diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma. Please find report attached. Last week her uterus and complete reproductive system has been removed by gynaecologist. However, doctor suggested for biopsy of entire uterus for confirmation. Please suggest whether the outer layer is invaded? And whether there is any further risk in future? If yes, then what are the steps required. Thanks & Regards Ajanta XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Chances of recurrence are there.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, the outer layer is involved but only half the way of the myometrium.
As the surgery was done but still there is a chance of recurrence is there due to micrometastasis of cancer cell (further risk is there), so you need to be in regular follow up.
You should go for adjuvent chemotherapy and radiation therapy for the same after your doctor consultation.
Get your MRI testing done to see other organs involvement and lymph nodes involvement.
Survival rates are very good after adjuvent therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Kindly suggest how many chemotherapies will be required for this case as report says FIGO GRADE 1. Also, radiotherapy if required, then how many is required to be given. After the therapies the recurrence will be nullified? Please advise.
Brief Answer:
Get her MRI test done.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Sorry for the delay in my response. Before going for chemotherapy and radiation you should get your MRI testing done to see lymph nodes involvement.
Because radiation and chemotherapy decided on the basis of the same. Yes, if we use adjuvant therapy chances of recurrence almost nil.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
