Is Circumcision Required For The Treatment Of UTI In A Child?
Question: Hello,
my son is 3.8 years old. He has been having recurring UTI so the doctor suggested circumcision. But we were informed he would be put under full body anaesthesia. I am a little concerned about this. can u please shed some light on this procedure and let me know if if it's a safe idea to put a kid under full anaesthesia?

Brief Answer:
The only way in children.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Some children may be vulnerable to recurrent UTI. Circumcision will only help if the prepuce is causing the obstruction leading to a retention of urine.
In case of children general anaesthesia (full body) needs to be done. The risk of not putting on general anaesthesia may be higher in children. So, if circumcision needs to be done, you need to go for it.
Let me know if I could help further.
