Is Diabetes Contagious Through Blood?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hi
I am a diabetes type ll from last r years. I frequently use accucheck to check my blood sugar. Recently, when I was checking my sugar, my 1.5 old daughter took my device and suddenly removed topcover. When I saw this was tired to take the device from her. During this time, her leg got a small perk (due to sharp lancet) and samm blood came. I cleaned up useing antiseptic lotion and put adhesive bandage.
My question is does she will have any problem because of this as that lancet has my blood and does she will contact sugar or some other diseases because of this. I am worried that if she any health issue because of this?
Thanka

Brief Answer:
Diabetes does not spread that way.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Let me assure you that diabetes and high blood sugar does not spread through blood borne route and hence you need not worry about your daughter getting such a thing from the prick of the lancet used by you. However, I would assume that you are not positive for diseases like HIV, Hepatis B or Hepatitis C that spread via blood and hence could be transmitted.
Let me know if I could help further.
