Is Dislodgement Of Blood Clot Post Tooth Extraction A Cause For Concern?
there will be formation of a DRY SOCKET, see the dentist
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your query if you have got just a little portion of the blood clot or the scar tissue dislodged then there is nothing to worry as the remaining portion of the clot will keep on progressing the healing process..
But in case if only a few fragments of the clot are left and a major portion of the clot is dislodged then there will not be proper healing of the extraction socket and there will be formation of a DRY SOCKET which is a very painful condition..
For a confirmatory diagnosis you should consult your treating dentist or oral surgeon and get a clinical evaluation done so that after seeing the extraction socket he/she can guide you better..
In case if there is considerable loss of the clot then he/she will clean the socket and irrigate with hydrogen peroxide, betadine and saline and place a dressing containing Zinc-oxide Eugenol paste which is coated over a sterile gauze piece.
It has to be changed every alternate day till considerable healing takes place..
Antibiotics and painkiller may also be advised to you as per the requirement..
In case if there is sufficient scar tissue [ blood clot] present in the extraction socket it will be left as it is so that it will keep on healing naturally..
Do not worry as this condition is easily treatable and you will be fine if you take immediate assistance from your dentist..
If possible for you, you can send me the images of the extraction socket so that I can guide you better..
Also any further queries are most welcome..
Thanks and regards..
