Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

After reviewing the data you provided I would like to say that you have low ejection fraction (EF 39%) which is considered as mild to moderate heart failure. Heart failure in your case isn't cause by ischemic (coronary blockage) heart disease.

In your case is recommended a healthy life style and diet together with medical treatment to maintain the same ejection fraction (39 %). If you were my patient I would recommend as follows:
- Quit smoking
- Stop consuming alcohol
- Reduce salt intake
- Increase physical activity
- Loose weigh if you are overweight
- Use actual medications (you may add the doses) in order to maintain HR below 100 b.p.m, BP below 130/85 mmHg, and LDL cholesterol below 100 mg/dl.

All the above mentioned measures (medical and healthy life style) are of help in maintaining actual ejection fraction and in a few lucky cases they may help in increasing it.

The only procedure that increase ejection fraction is Cardiac Re-synchronization Therapy (CRT). However other tests are needed to confirm if you are suitable to go for this procedure. You should discuss with your cardiologist about this procedure.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

What is your opinion of the use of CoQ10 vitamin to improve EF? Any valid research on this vitamin?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

One of most serious and valid research on the effect of CoQ10 on heart failure was published on European Journal of Heart failure.

This ten years study found that CoQ10 was effective in reducing moratality (improve survival rates) and morbidity of patients on every stage of heart failure (including them with moderate to severe).

Moreover the study found that using CoQ10 100mg three times a day will have a positive effect on heart failure manifested with an increase of ejection fraction and an reduction on cardiac markers.

However larger studies are needed to confirm these findings. If you were my patient I would recommend to use CoQ10 100mg three times a day.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
