Is Elevated ESR Normal During Menstruation?

Question: Hi, I am XXXXXXX age 25/F. I am having periods now and on the second day of my period I did a blood test (complete hemogram). All parameters appeared normal, only Hemoglobin a little bit low-11.7 and ESR a bit elevated- mean ESR after 2 hours is 28.5mm/hr. I don't have sugar but I am hypothyroid (under medicine Thyronorm 50). My question is- is this elevated counts normal during menstruation?

ESR temporarily elevated during menstruation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through you query in detail.
You have slightly hemoglobin which is slightly on the lower side and you can correct it by taking healthy nutritious food.
It is confirmed that ESR is temporarily elevated during menstruation and pregnancy.
Hope your query is answered.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for your reply. One more thing to mention, I have a elevated SGOT and SGPT. 6 months back, it was normal, now it's elevated. But other LFT parameters like Alkaline Phosphates, Bilirubin etc are within normal range. SGOT= 39.5, SGOT=59.8. Is it something to worry about?
Please find the attached report.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry in absence of symptoms

Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
I have read through your report. Anyway normal values of liver enzyme varies with lab and machine used. In your query above you have mentioned SGOT 39.5 and SGPT 59.8. In this circumstance it is acceptable because the values are borderline high. No need to worry unless you have any unexplained health problem.
Hope your query is answered.
