Is Energy Milk Powder Safe For A 14 Months Old Infant?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
my daughter is 14 months old. she is on breastfeed still along with other semi solid foods. We tried giving her cows milk or Nan pro for quite some time, but after taking a sip or two, she doesn't take it further. Earlier we tried with bottle but she didn't accepted it. later now we trained her with sipper or with straw glass. she drinks water happily with it, but as soon as you put milk in it, she rejects it completely. I feel due to no intake of milk, her weight is also less than as compared to normal range in charts(her weight is 8 kgs , birth weight was 3 kg)
we are not sure now how to make her habitual or arise her interest in milk. I thought of mixing some energy formula to milk like junior horlicks mainly chocolate flavour, to arise her interest. but their label mentions suitable for kids of minimum two years of age.
can u please suggest me what could be done in such situation? is it OK to give her junior horlicks at this age albeit it's mentioned 2 years?
Weight is going down

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Breast feeding is best. If she is taking about 500 ml of breast milk then she doesnot need other milk. If she is being weaned from breastmilk, then tumbler or glass is best. She will slowly adapt to it. You only need to be patient and consistent. Take her in your lap, hold the glass yourself and slowly feed her milk. She will accept milk better if she is hungry. There is no need for formula at this age. She can drink cow's milk. You can fortify it with horlicks, etc. Pick the flavour of her choice. Even hersheys flavours are good.
At this age she should be deriving most nutrtion from solid food. She should preferably eat meals with adults. Three big meals and 3-4 small snacks in a day.
Since your baby is not gaining enough weight, I would suggest that you add high calorie foods to her diet. High calorie foods include butter, cheese, XXXXXXX milk, ghee, paneer, sweets, rasagullas, etc. These should supplement and not replace meals. For example before sleeping, you can add some cream (2 tbsp) to baby's milk, you can add some cheese to baby's burger/bread/sandwich, you can simply give butter to baby to chew on, etc. There are many ways to make the meals higher calorie.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
