Is Eosinophil Count Of 640 With Severe Cough A Cause For Concern?
Anti allergic medicine will help, please provide some details
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
Eosinophil count more than 450 is considered to be high. Eosinophilia with cough is mostly due to some allergy, but few condition like tropical pulmonary Eosinophilia can also present with high eosinophil count with cough.
I would like to know that
1)For how long cough is there?
2) Is there any breathing difficulty also?
3)Is there any skin allergy?
4)Any family history of allergy?
5)If chest x-ray has been done and if yes then what was the report?
6)Is there any history of repeated sneezing or nose running?
Most of the cases of allergy responds well with the antiallergic(montelukast and cetrizine combination). Sometimes steroid is also given depending on the condition.
Giving bronchodilator like salbutamol in oral or inhalational form is also need to be given.
In uncommon cause like tropical pulmonary Eosinophilia medicine like diethylcarbamazine is given.
I request you to answer the above mentioned questions and also to provide the detail of any medication if he is getting any currently.
Also let me know about the detail if you have visited any doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
In view of short history I would like to give montelukast(4 mg) and cetrizine(2.5 mg) combination.
There are various brands(syrup or kid tablet) , few are montair lc, montina L. This need to be given once a day for 7-10 days.
Along with this I would suggest to give levosalbutamol syrup like Ambrodil s plus or ambrolite s. The dose for this age is 7.5 ml three times a day for 5 days.
Please get these medicines prescribed by a pediatrician.
