Is Excessive Screaming Normal For A 14 Month Old Child?
Question: Hello Doctor,
My son is 14 months old now and is growing well..however I have noticed off late from about past 2 weeks - he continuously keeps screaming - I have read and known that babies do scream but I am worried if this is normal or does this need any immediate attention? Kindly help me get some info around this.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that it is normal for children to scream. Let me know if the child is otherwise adament and if he obeys commands. Based on it I would guide you further.
Let me know if I could help further.

Thank you Sir, he usually obeys commands but only since the last 2 weeks i have noticed screaming. any suggestions to reduce or understand the intent?
Brief Answer:
The child may have vested interest in screaming if screaming can get him stuff he craves
Detailed Answer:
I would insist on visiting a child psychologist. He would be able to evaluate the situation and offer you some simple tips so that you can handle the child properly and prevent the situation from getting out of hand in the future. As such it is not a cause for worrying but you need to know which path is the right path to take (for you, not for the child).
