Is Fasting Blood Glucose Level Of 102 Mg/dl A Cause For Concern?

Question: I just got my test done for diabetes(fasting blood glucose), my readings came out to be 102 mg/dl. I understand that a normal reading is under 100. Does this mean I am pre-diabetic? What should I do to avoid any more damage to my blood glucose levels.
P.S. - My father is diabetic for past 7 years.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.
I want to know -
- Your age.
- Weight and Height.
- Method of blood test done that is by glucometer or from laboratory.
If it is done from laboratory I may suggest following evaluation-
- OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) if possible or 2 hours Post-prandial blood sugar level can be done.
- HbA1c.
Hope this helps you.
